Elections

Every January, the Students’ Association accepts nominations from full-time students to become a Director. After you have submitted your nomination form you will be contacted by the member of the current board that has been selected by the Board of Directors as the Primary Electoral Officer (PEO). As long as the student meets all the necessary requirements and is able to attend the Director Orientation, traditionally held on an evening at the Ottawa campus, the student will be contacted to attend an interview. After the interview process is completed, the selection committee will then choose which students to present to the current board members. From there, the Students’ Association will hold their Annual General Meeting presenting the new Board to the student body, for the students to vote and approve of the Board's selection.

Once you have become a member of the Students’ Association Board of Directors, you can then run for the position of President or Vice-President.  The SA will hold a general election to the entire student body to determine the winner. The general election typically takes place for a week online in March.

If you wish to apply to become a Director in January, please keep the following qualifications in mind. You must:

  • Have paid your fees and be enrolled in a full-time post secondary ministry funded program
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be bondable
  • Not have a grade point average (GPA) lower than 2.25
  • Be able to fulfill duties for a 12 month term including the summer
  • Attend the Director Orientation (as stated above)
  • Not have served on the SA Board of Directors selection committee
  • Not have already served 3 terms on the Board.

Nomination Packages will be available the first day of the winter term at every SA office. You will have to submit your completed package 14 days after the first day of the winter semester.

Good luck to all everyone that applies.
