Each Summer, the Board of Directors meet to set their priorities for the coming academic year. This list of five to seven priorities define what the Board sets out to accomplish during their term in office.

1. Connect the Woodroffe, Pembroke, and Perth Campuses.

  1. Explore options to implement a convenient, inter-campus transit system.
  2. Market specific events at Perth and Pembroke to Ottawa students in order to promote the unique attributes and amenities of these campuses.
  3. Unite student identity and school spirit across Ottawa, Pembroke, and Perth campuses through celebration of the Wolves rebranding process.
    1. Market a shared vision of the Algonquin Wolves brand through Ottawa, Perth, and Pembroke Campuses.
  4. Ensure equitable access to student services on the Perth and Pembroke campuses.

2. Model the College’s Commitment to Truth, Reconciliation, and Indigenization.

  1. Work “Shoulder-to-Shoulder” with the Vice President of Indigenization to accelerate Indigenization of the institution
    1. Develop a strategy to emphasize the indigenous significance of the college community’s new Algonquin Wolves identity.
    2. Design and create a facility at the Perth campus that celebrates Truth, Reconciliation, and Indigenization in the context of the Heritage Institute.
  2. Introduce Algonquian language courses as options for general electives
  3. Recognize the institutional efficacy of teachings such as the Thanksgiving Address and the Honorable Harvest by observing them in novel college policies under Human Resources and/or Health, Safety, and Security

3. Compel the College to Recommit to its Social-Economic-Environmental (S.E.E) Model of Sustainability.

  1. Resurrect the Sustainable Algonquin Steering Committee
  2. Realize the full potential of the S.E.E. model by creating a revised philosophy of sustainability
  3. Collaborate with the college to develop a sustainability policy that will enshrine the revised S.E.E. model.
  4. Educate the college community on current sustainability projects, accomplishments, and the updated S.E.E. model by reorganizing and revitalizing the college’s sustainability web page.
  5. Work with the college to launch sustainability initiatives.

4. Support and Maintain Access to Education.

  1. Resolve barriers to successful completion of studies caused by limitations or unavailability of safe student housing in Perth and Pembroke
  2. Research student homelessness and emergency student housing
  3. Explore municipal transportation options in Pembroke
  4. Increase visibility of student support services (CAL, Mental Health Services, Food Cupboard)

5. Ensure Proactive Student Support throughout the COVID 19 Pandemic.

  1. Advise the (COVID) committee based on students’ health and wellness needs
  2. Adapt online infrastructure to support student experience
  3. Support continuous improvement and standardization of instructor utilization of Brightspace
  4. Explore future option for emergency response to Pandemics and Epidemics
