This February, join the Students’ Association, the Student Health & Wellness Zone, and Counselling Services to celebrate Black History Month! Explore connections, community, and identity at this “Freedom to Flourish” themed Paint N’ Vibe workshop in the AC Hub on Wednesday, February 5, from 1 pm – 3 pm.
This theme encourages us to highlight the various ways in which Black individuals and cultures grow and thrive despite challenges. This event aims to inspire each of us to delve deeper into our own connections and involvement with Black history, communities, and identities, prompting reflection and awareness. Join us for the special event with special guest and celebrated artist, Allan André!

About Allan André:
Allan André is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist of Haitian descent based in Ottawa, known for his murals, live painting, and community-focused art. He gained national recognition by winning multiple Art Battle Canada speed painting competitions and has been featured in Ottawa’s Nuit Blanche. In 2015, he collaborated on a Sandra Bland tribute mural, sparking discussions on racial justice.
André has appeared on CBC’s Crash Gallery and co-founded the Ottawa Black Artist Collective (OBAK). He curates the See Me Now series, highlighting underrepresented narratives in art. As a co-founder of “opncnvs,” he promotes accessible public art spaces and has hosted art socials since 2017. Through initiatives like ArtLife Tonight and mentoring young artists, André fosters community connections. His philosophy emphasizes that everyone contributes to a collective artistic legacy.
