It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Brian White, aged 76, Head Coach of our Women’s Basketball team during the 2004-2005 season through the 2007-2008 season. Please join us in reflecting on Brian’s legacy.

Brian was a champion for Ottawa athletes, and his memory will always be felt in the communities he touched. His leadership was monumental in the rebuild of the Women’s Basketball program and in making them one of the top women’s basketball programs in Ontario.

Brian was named East Division Coach of the Year in the 2004-2005 season and led the team to the OCAA silver medal. In 2005-2006, they took home another OCAA silver medal after a huge upset in the semi-final game versus the Humber Hawks. In 2006-2007, the team won the OCAA bronze medal, and in 2007-2008, Brian was once again named East Division Coach of the Year.

In Brian’s memory, we encourage you to donate to the Brian White Memorial Award for Athletic Achievement, to be given each year to an Algonquin Wolves Women’s Basketball player who lives by the qualities that Brian most valued in athletes.
