Algonquin College Students Elect Their 2021-2022 Students’ Association Board of Directors
Meet your 2021-2022 Board of Directors!
Published: March 26, 2021At Noon on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the Algonquin Students’ Association’s (SA) Annual General Meeting, Eight Full-Time Students from all Campuses were Sworn in as the Next Student Government.
The SA hosts a general meeting for their membership each spring to vote on changes to by-laws, to present the financial audit, and to elect and swear in the next student government.
Elected today for the 2021-2022 academic year beginning May 1, 2021:
Jessica Akwaeke (Public Relations), Catherine Coleman (Social Service Worker), Ellen Cotter (Applied Museum Studies), Emily Ferguson (Business Administration), Katrina Medina (Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Pembroke Campus), Valerie Riopelle (Heritage Carpentry, Perth Campus), Vanne Solo (Business Accounting), and Julia Tsoy (Public Relations).
“The current global climate did not diminish our membership’s desire to lead, advocate for, and represent their Algonquin College student community. If anything, it has brought forward an astounding group of eight diverse individuals,” says Alorah Abell, current SA Director and Elections Officer. “Their empathy, approachability, experiences, chemistry, positivity, and dedication to our membership are sure to lead the SA to even more wonderful places in the coming year.”
The SA Board of Directors connects with full-time students on all campuses and advocates on their behalf to the college administration. The Board forms policies that guide the SA to fulfill its mission to create an environment that inspires a passion for student success.
