Introducing Your 2025-2026 Recommended Board

Get to know the Recommended Board ahead of the Special General Meeting on Friday, March 28, 2025!

Join us on Friday, March 28, at 10:30 am in the Student Commons Corner Lounge (E133) on our Ottawa campus for the Students’ Association Special General Meeting. All fee-paying members of the SA are welcome to attend and vote for your 2025-2026 Board of Directors. A valid student card is required for entry.

Students can vote in advance at the SA Office (E114) on their campus until 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 26.


Cheyanne Auguste

Hometown: Ottawa, Ontario
Campus: Ottawa
Program of Study: Business Administration

One of Cheyanne’s favourite things about studying at Algonquin is being a part of the community. She’s met many kind and ambitious students here, and she wants to serve on the SA Board of Directors to help them succeed.

In her free time, Cheyanne likes to read, finishing an average of roughly 150 books a year for the last three years. She also loves expressing her creativity through photography and fostering dogs. She’s passionate about learning and loves how the Business Administration program challenges her to apply what she learns in new and creative ways.

Clariella Bizimana

Home Country: Burundi
Campus: Ottawa
Program of Study: Community and Justice Services

Clariella’s favourite parts of studying at Algonquin are the Wolves Den and being involved in communities like the Intervarsity Club. She hopes to learn as much as possible from her fellow students and the Students’ Association team and also plans to attend university after graduating.

Clariella’s favourite part of her program is going on trips to places like the Joyceville Federal Prison. Her hobbies change depending on the season, and right now, she regularly enjoys cooking, baking, and writing.

Kylie Jardine

Hometown: Ottawa, Ontario
Campus: Ottawa
Program of Study: Bachelor of Public Safety

By serving on the SA Board of Directors, Kylie hopes to build on Algonquin’s supportive environment and help every student feel heard and represented. She loves the College’s diverse community and enjoys expanding her perspective by being around people from different backgrounds.

Kylie’s favourite part of her program is how it lets her use real-world scenarios and practical learning to build skills for keeping communities safe. After graduating, she’d like to pursue a master’s degree in emergency and disaster management. In her free time, Kylie loves to watch basketball, especially the NBA, WNBA, and women’s NCAA.

Phorcas Katto

Hometown: Mbarara, Uganda
Campus: Ottawa
Program of Study: Aviation Management

Phorcas’s favourite part of studying at Algonquin is meeting all the different kinds of people on campus. He also enjoys flying aircraft every week as part of his studies and hopes to work for an airline after graduation while pursuing a master’s degree.

Phorcas wants to join the SA Board of Directors to contribute positively to the growth of Algonquin and its students in any way he can. In his spare time, he loves to cook, watch nature documentaries, write stories, and play sports.

Ethan Lutes

Hometown: Barrie, Ontario
Campus: Perth
Program of Study: Heritage Carpentry and Joinery

Ethan’s favourite part of studying at Algonquin is the community and the connections he’s made. One of his favourite parts of the Heritage Carpentry and Joinery program is the pride he feels when he looks at a finished project. He hopes that by serving on the SA Board of Directors, he can help other students feel proud to study at Algonquin and foster a good atmosphere for them to learn.

Ethan loves to spend his spare time outdoors, whether that involves hiking, camping, or gardening. He also enjoys drawing, photo-editing, thrifting, and watching volleyball. Regardless of what he’s doing, you can always count on Ethan to have music playing in the background.

Vanshika Sharma

Hometown: Lucknow, India
Campus: Ottawa
Program of Study: Brand Management

Vanshika loves marketing and is excited by how what she’s learning in Brand Management can be applied to many facets of life. Her long-term aspiration is to pursue a PhD in subliminal advertising while continuing to volunteer for causes close to her heart, like supporting the elderly, children, and animals.

Vanshika enjoys the sense of community, inclusivity, and support at Algonquin. She wants to serve on the SA Board of Directors to help fellow students reach their full potential while developing her leadership and networking skills. She’s also passionate about fitness, and the ARC is her favourite place on campus. She enjoys reading, and lately, she’s been enjoying the works of Brené Brown.

Pauline Thomson

Hometown: Brighton, Ontario
Campus: Ottawa
Program of Study: Social Service Worker

Pauline feels a strong sense of community and belonging at Algonquin College. She wants to join the SA Board of Directors to advocate on behalf of other students while connecting with them and sharing the warmth she feels here.

She enjoys learning from the amazing professors in her program, and after graduating, Pauline wants to provide low-cost counselling to vulnerable people who need support. In her free time, she loves making jewelry, whether that involves repurposing vintage or broken items or creating something new.

Vedant Vaghela

Hometown: Vadodara, India
Campus: Ottawa
Program of Study: Biotechnology

Vedant’s favourite part of studying in the Biotechnology program is the weekly labs where he gets to work with chemicals and edit DNA. He loves Algonquin’s culturally diverse community and has learned so much from the people he’s met here. As a Class Representative, Vedant loves listening to feedback from other students, and he’s excited to do that on a larger scale as a member of the SA Board of Directors.

Vedant loves to research and hopes to work in a lab after graduating. In his free time, he enjoys movies, garage rock, and playing badminton in the ARC. He likes to make espresso, and he’d be happy to talk to you about any of these things if you stop him for a chat.
