Did You Know: Services
There’s a lot your SA does for you! Here’s a recap of some of the services that are available to you.
Published: January 30, 2023Your SA is happy to offer a variety of services to support you and enhance your student experience.
Study and Meeting Rooms
If you’re looking for somewhere on campus to study or have group meetings, your SA has you covered!
For individual study, the Silent Study Lounges in A118 and E210 provide a quiet, comfortable environment to work and relax. You can drop in to the Silent Study Lounges anytime! Please respect your fellow students and keep this room silent and clean.
For group work, you can book one of five meeting rooms, located in E115 to E118. You can book up to one week in advance, and you can book your room for up to two hours at a time. To book a meeting room, visit the SA Office in E114!
You’ll need your valid student card to book a room.
Mental Health Resources
We’ve partnered with WeConnect to give you access to confidential mental health support – available 24/7, virtually or by phone. WeConnect provides eligible students and their dependents with therapy, counselling, and other resources to take care of their mental wellbeing.
Food Cupboard
The Food Cupboard offers a variety of support including food, personal and hygiene items, menstrual products, children’s diapers and more. Are you a current student at Algonquin College who is missing meals regularly, at risk of becoming homeless, unable to work due to mental or physical challenges, or cannot afford life’s necessities? You may be eligible to access the Food Cupboard.
Health Plan
We’ve partnered with WeSpeakStudent to provide full-time domestic students with a health and dental plan during their academic year, which is included in your fees. Our new and improved plan provides access to contraceptives, mental health support, extended medical coverage, and more!
International and full-time online students can choose to opt-in to this health coverage. For January 2023 intake students, the deadline to make changes to your plan is February 3.
Grad Photos
Your SA is pleased to provide grad photos through Lassman Studios Photography.
Your grad photo sitting includes a minimum of nine unique poses. You can take both traditional portraits and some fun shots if you want! You’ll be able to view and order your photos online – plus a digital copy of the class composite. You must have a grad photo taken in order to appear in your official class composite.
Here are the available dates for grad photos this semester:
- February 20 to 24
- March 20 to 24
- April 10 to 21
If you’re not sure what to wear, you can check out these recommendations on clothing for your sitting.
