The Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) is dedicated to helping students own their fitness and health. The 125,000-square-foot facility aims to inspire students to have fun while building healthy habits.
Do you want to start on your fitness journey but aren’t sure how? We offer a FREE 30-minute Fitness Orientation as part of your membership designed to help you get started at the ARC.
During the 30-minute session, our team will answer all your questions to help you become more comfortable in the facility as you go over the basics of using the equipment.
During this session, you could learn how to….

Wolves DenAs early as 2011, the Algonquin Students’ Association Board of Directors began talking to students about their expectations and wishes for athletics and leisure on campus. Through the years, we’ve spoken to thousands of students, college faculty, and staff, and visited other post-secondary institutions in Canada and the U.S. to create a vision that matched our mission: to create an environment that inspires a passion for student success. These conversations led to the Athletics and Recreation Centre.
The 2020-2021 Board of Directors named the ARC in honour of long-time SA General Manager and CEO Jack Doyle. The Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation centre embodies Jack’s vision and commitment to students.
Over the last 30+ years, Jack has worked for and mentored more than 270 student board members, and has been instrumental in elevating the student experience on all campuses. He has dedicated his entire career to enhancing the student experience here at Algonquin, and he has helped make the College the post-secondary education leader it is today.
The ARC was built to create a welcoming environment where students of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities can safely learn to own their health. Whether it’s your first or fiftieth time working out, there’s something in the ARC for you to discover – from fitness classes and intramurals to dining and live events.
As part of our ongoing mission to create safer spaces and to build a campus community where all students are fully supported, all washrooms in the ARC are all-gender. We also offer three locker rooms – one female, one male, and one all-gender, as well as individual changing spaces where members can change in private, then store their belongings in a locker.
